The house is located between an agricultural road and a river and it extends along the entire length of the lot for 56 meters, perpendicular to the watercourse: this positioning gives a clear order and final to the cluttered building behind. The house relates to the land both at a regional scale with the mountains and valley behind and at a closer scale with the garden and vineyards. The view at an intermediate distance, where the cantonal road and neighboring buildings are located, is deliberately closed. This idea is made through a sequence of spaces developed on one or two levels that are articulated with different characteristics of orientation, proportions, light, and atmosphere. The architectural elements that bind all the spaces are the plinth that unifies the entire building and the roof-beam that gives an image related to the rural context where roofs cover indoor and outdoor spaces.
