The contested lot is located at the edge of a large green area at the northern entrance to Lugano, surrounded on three sides by densely populated neighborhoods. The large space at the edge of the built-up area proposes to those arriving in Lugano a rural image that poignantly connotes this city space. The meeting of this void with the access road to the city is constructed as a controlled urban fact, capable of mediating the transition with the agricultural space. The headquarters of Croce Verde di Lugano represents the first building in the system, which is accessed from the near roundabout. The compact volume of the building is oriented on one side towards the access to the city and the roundabout, while on the other, less public and dedicated to the staff, the volume opens with a large terrace towards the green area.
