The site is located between the historic core of Castione and a semi-extensive residential area. The task of the project, in addition to the construction of the new school complex, is to "stitch” these two realities by providing a meeting area of spatial and social quality, benefiting both the historic core and the newer neighboring residential areas. The old Mesolcina railroad track is used as access to the school bus compartment and as a tree-lined pedestrian and bicycle path as the main axis of pedestrian connection between the significant parts of the place. Near the school area, the tree-lined boulevard becomes an integral part of the schools' green area. The project fits into the context by conferring a public character of relationship with both the historic center and the various routes connecting to the civic center. A new paved plaza is proposed in the center of the allotment that also serves as a pivot in the composition of the mass of school buildings, providing a new public space overlooked not only by all the school sites, but also by the surrounding neighborhoods and the public playground. The project also proposes the expansion of covered outdoor spaces, putting them in direct connection with the central square.
